The age of augmented exploration has begun

The frontier of science has shifted from scarcity to abundance. Knowledge now multiplies exponentially while human capacity stands still.

Discoveries are missed and connections go unmade.

To advance, researchers need intelligence that scales with data, capable of reasoning across the full record of human discovery.

Our mission is simple: accelerate discovery across fields by giving every researcher access to an AI scientist.

Edison is built by scientists and engineers from leading institutions across physics, biology, chemistry, and AI.

Leadership

Sam Rodriques

CEO,

Co-Founder

Sam is a physicist and bioengineer, and is co-founder, director and CEO of Edison Scientific and FutureHouse. Sam has invented technologies for spatial and temporal transcriptomics, brain mapping, gene therapy, and nanofabrication, and briefly ran an academic lab at the Francis Crick Institute prior to launching FutureHouse.

Andrew White

CTO,

Co-Founder

Andrew is Co-Founder and CTO at Edison, where he has led multiple AI for science projects including ChemCrow (first LLM agents in chemistry), ether0 (first reasoning model in a scientific domain), and paperqa (first superhuman literature agent). Andrew has been a professor and researcher in ML in chemistry, explainable AI, statistical mechanics, and chemical engineering, and has received numerous awards, including junior investigator awards from the NSF and NIH. Andrew is an active member of the scientific community as a peer reviewer for over 30 journals, multiple national and private grant awarding institutions.

Nghia Nguyen

Head of Operations

Nghia is an industry professional with deep expertise across business operations who has led global, cross-functional teams in cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and security. An aerospace engineer by training, his background ranges from developing liquid propulsion engines at SpaceX to streamlining BLA & NDA review work for the FDA at Palantir.

Michael Skarlinski

Head of Platform

Michael is head of platform at Edison, where he leads engineering efforts to deploy and scale AI agents for science. Previously, he led FutureHouse's platform team and has spent a decade building ML and software engineering teams at companies in the health tech space, including Weight Watchers and Carrum Health.

Jon Laurent

Member of Technical Staff

Jon is a molecular biologist who has developed multiple platform technologies for high-throughput genomic studies and diagnostics, and led teams and large-scale projects across academic centers and industry. Prior to joining FutureHouse and Edison, he co-founded Pandemic Response Labs, leading R&D and playing a critical role in making PRL the primary COVID-19 testing provider for NY, performing over 12 million tests and contributing nearly 100,000 genome sequences for variant surveillance.

Michaela Hinks

Member of Technical Staff

Michaela is a scientist with extensive experience leveraging synthetic biology and genomics technologies to make discoveries in gene regulation. During her PhD (awarded 2024), she developed a high-throughput assay to measure the simultaneous occupancy of multiple proteins on individual DNA molecules in vivo, and deployed it on synthetic genes to test first-principles models of transcription in human cells.

Ludovico Mitchener

Member of Technical Staff

Ludo is a two-time founder, interdisciplinary scientist, and engineer focused on advancing human and planetary health. With over seven years of experience leading high-performing technical teams, his expertise spans industrial biotechnology, deep reinforcement learning, and neuropsychopharmacology. An occasional angel investor, Ludo has been recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in Science.

Tony Kulesa

Executive Director

Tony Kulesa is a Partner at Pillar VC, where he invests across biotech and deep tech. He was a founding board member at FutureHouse, and his investments at Pillar include Latent Labs, Nabla Bio, Portal Biotech, Amber Bio, and Rowan Science.

Our origins

In 2023, the FutureHouse non-profit began with the goal of building an AI scientist capable of accelerating innovation itself.

Edison, the commercial spinout of FutureHouse, is now bringing this technology to the world.

FutureHouse continues advancing basic biology and educational access, while Edison scales the AI scientist to researchers and industries worldwide.
