Program Overview
We are excited to announce a fast grants program to provide academic researchers with access to Kosmos, our AI scientist, along with the rest of the Edison platform. This program aims to accelerate scientific discovery by allowing awardees to maximize insights derived from data they already have and identify promising new areas of investigation.
Award Details
Each award includes:
1. 20,000 credits for use on the Edison platform (equivalent to 100 Kosmos runs)
2. Dedicated scientist support from our team to help you effectively use the tools and independently verify interesting results
Number of awards: Up to 5 awards will be distributed
Eligibility
Principal Investigators (professors), staff scientists, post-doctoral fellows, and Ph.D. students at universities and non-profit research institutes (e.g. Broad Institute, Salk Institute) are eligible to apply. Applicants must have complex, QC’d datasets ready for AI-assisted exploration at the time of proposal submission. While we are accepting applications from all scientific fields, we are able to provide the most support to projects in the life sciences.
Application Requirements
Submit a 1-2 page proposal (excluding references) that includes:
- Dataset description: Clearly describe the data you plan to explore.
- Research objectives: What scientific questions will you investigate using Kosmos and the platform more broadly?
- [Optional but encouraged] preliminary analyses: Describe the results of any preliminary analyses you have on this data. We want to emphasize these can be extremely early analyses, such as simple quality control of the data.
Terms and Conditions
1. Credits are valid for 4 months from initial distribution of credits.
2. Recipients must publish a technical report of their findings as either:
a. A preprint on bioRxiv or similar repository AND/OR
b. A blog post hosted on the Edison website
3. The technical report should describe what data was given to Kosmos, including how it was generated and QC’d, what Kosmos was able to discover, and human validations of Kosmos findings.
Timeline
1. Application Deadline: Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM PST
2. Award Notifications: Thursday, January 15, 2026
3. Credit distribution and collaboration begins: Within a week of award notification
